The Four Editions of Karachi Premier League
First Edition
The first edition of Karachi Premier League was organized on the 25th of January 2010 which was inaugurated by Mr. Iqbal Qasim, Mr. Ruknuddin Khan and Mr. Siraj Ul Islam Bukhari. The edition was played between eight corporate teams at PIA Cricket Academy.
Second Edition
Second edition was played at Three Star Cricket ground located at Gadap Town Karachi, where also eight corporate teams participated in the year 2013.
Third Edition
The third edition of KPL was played at Rashid Latif Cricket Academy Gulberg, and the Final Match of the 3rd edition was played at Asghar Ali Shah Cricket Stadium which was broadcasted ‘LIVE’ on PTV Sports in 2016.
Fourth Edition
The fourth edition of Karachi Premier League was planned on a much larger scale than before with
much more innovation. Eight different teams were formed from the major DMC areas of Karachi and each was sold as a franchise locally to the interested cricket enthusiasts. The league was structured as Robin-League, where thirty one matches were played with all of them broadcasted ‘LIVE’ on ‘PTV
Sports’ and ‘PTV National’. Prior to KPL 2018, there was a launching ceremony organized where the trophy was officially unveiled by then Mayor of Karachi, Mr. Wasim Akhtar, ‘LIVE’ on ‘PTV Sports’.
Fifth Edition
The fifth edition of Kings Karachi Premier League was organized on Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Cricket Stadium on 01 Nov 2024 to 16 Nov 2024 on grander scale with groundbreaking innovations.The league followed a thrilling round-robin format, featuring 31 electrifying matches, all broadcasted live on Samaa Sports and Geo Super. A spectacular launch ceremony preceded KPL 2024, where the trophy was unveiled by esteemed guests, marking the beginning of an unforgettable season.
